Multi-Frame

Many artists choose to use multiple images and then stitch them together to create one larger cohesive piece. Typically black and white images (or images with a similarly cohesive surface) integrate together best. And typically black (or white) borders create a kind of stitching and rhythm to hold it all together. Some artists even make these by hand and will literally stitch the parts together with thread, sewing, tape, etc; the idea is to unify all the elements (not to have a catalog collection of different images). Here are some samples by Robert Flick, the Starn Twins, Tom Young, and David Hockey, plus a quick example I made with some shadow images on-line; this one follows the direction re: 4 unconnected images integrating with cohesive surface and flow. I also made a duotone version just to expand possibilities.
