Avedon Portraits
Note:-Marilyn Monroe is a great example of authenticity, but not Avedon's typical white background.
-The Windsors are 2 people in the frame, not Avedon's typical 1 person, but they connect with us as a couple with real emotion.
Avedon Portraits
Note:These examples by Arnold Newman show how important placement of the subject is in the frame. The idea is to integrate your subject into a larger design; your subject should complete the design as one of its main elements. Think about what they are wearing (darks, lights, textures, patterns) and create contrast or association with your background environment.
